88 Buffet in Richmond

Update on this place . Last year everything was great .... something has happen in the last year .... please read this review before eating there !!!!!!!! The narrative portion of the Wayne County Health Department inspector's March 15 report for 88 Buffet, 3360 E. Main St., indicates cockroaches were "observed in kitchen by grill line and reach-in cooler." A Jan. 11 inspection initiated by a report to the health department of a cockroach in lo mein noodles found cockroaches "alive and dead overflowing out of trap in kitchen by grill line," according to that report's narrative.During the March 15 inspection, 88 Buffet was cited for four critical and three non-critical violations. For three inspections so far this year, inspectors have cited 88 Buffet with 10 critical violations and seven non-critical violations

First visit was in 2015. The food was not fresh. Second visit was a month ago. The hostess was very unhappy to see us. And they didn’t have A MICROWAVE to heat baby food.....?!Completely done with this restaurant.

Typically the same ol same ol. But I dont remember it. It don't really stand out. Except my aunt loved it an sushi was ok I guess... She even did a good deed, payed for a family meal an told the parents to get out an do something 2gether..

Very bad food. No taste and was dried out like it sat awhile. I mentioned it to the lady when I paid and all she could say about it was "I KNOW " WOW I WON'T BE BACK.

My family and I truly do enjoy the food at this Chinese restaurant. It has a nice Hibachi Grill that is included with your buffet. Staff are very friendly and always attentive to your requests. Highly recommend.

My family loves it. My son is 3 and love the variety of fruit chicken macaroni and desserts not to mention the ice cream. I love the Hibachi grill and egg drop soup and my husband loves the variety of chicken. Best thing there is peppered potatoes and there rice.

Filthy and disgusting. Got up and left without touching our food.

My family and I received good service from a smiling waitress. We were delighted the buffett had a nice variety of choices and stocked with clean plates and silverware. The bathrooms were clean at the time but the hallway to it was dark.

If they'd only sell beer with the food in might go down better. I don't know what you call that food except a lot of its greasy or don't know what it taste like. It certainly don't taste like what it supposed to be.

Fire it has American and Chinese food it's so good they are always bring out fresh food

The service was subpar. The sushi bar was empty limited selections. Food was Bland duck sauce and no duck sauce she didn't know that. Had to lick the walls to get soy sauce from previous diners. Condition unfair and the snozberries taste like snozberries

Good food good service good price about 10$ per person

Will never go here again. The buffet didn't have much, food was cold, staff wasn't very helpful. The only reason they didn't receive 1 star is because the hibachi tasted good, although it took forever for someone to wait on me. Great Wall, or Sub N Roll are much better options.

It's closed and rightly so

Excellent food! We went for lunch and the price was amazing and there was so much food there! Plenty of seating room, it was clean, and our servers kept our drinks refilled. I can't think of anything I did not like about 88 Buffet.

Everything was crusty and hard. You would think this time of the year when everyone is Christmas shopping and eating out that things would be halfway fresh at 7:15 in the evening. Stood at register for 10 min waiting to pay before I laid money on counter and left. Wasn't planning on tipping that well, but wasn't going to keep standing there. Notrst bad experience here. We won't be going to back.

Always a great selection and endless drinks! Food tastes really good! Service is fast, they seem to know what you need before you do!

The food is ok. Lots of times it seems cold even though it's in the warmers. The price is very fair. Taking a family of four is not bad. The could use to clean and update the facility

Wonderful friendly staff and great food.

It was really good when it first opened but, it seems to have slipped quite a bit. The staff usually seems friendly in a monotone personality sort of way.

Lunch Special ($6.79, 11:00-3:30, daily) The 88 Buffet provides a wide variety of very good food (over 50 different items), prompt seating, attentive service, and a spacious dining room conducive to private conversation. I especially enjoy the hibachi grill. 10% discount for SeniorsIMHO, this is the best dining value in Richmond.

I LOVE their peanut butter chicken!

It was better than I expected. The inside decor was nice with water fountains in the entrance, dark wood walls and faux bamboo dividers. There was even a TV in one of the dining areas playing the news. It had typical food: soups, salads, a plethora of beef, chicken and seafood stir-fryed options and several deserts. It had the added bonus of a hibachi grill and sushi bar. The highlight of my meal was the hibachi. So much better than anything they had in the buffet. The restaurant was clean, we were seated promptly and our waitress was polite and attentive. My complaints: even though it was 5pm (prime dinner hour) some of the food was scarse and needed replenished. I couldn't find any other eating utensils available except for the set that was given to me when I sat down. It looks shady and closed from the outside do to the heavy blinds they use. There was no sign inviting in customers, just an LED that read "hibachi". We almost didn't go there because it looked so unwelcoming.

This is my all time favorite Chinese buffet. Great selections, great quality, great service.

My wife and I ate there May 12, 2017. We agreed on everything said in this review of this Chinese-style buffet. The water, ice cream, sautéed mushrooms, and $price$ are very good. The cold and hot boiled shrimp and cocktail sauce good as well. The staff is attentive and pleasant. We cannot attest to the hibachi grill and sushi which was not tried, however, everything else not previously mentioned was only fair at best, and for that reason it is highly unlikely that we will return.

Really good food most of the time except when it there's no business and it's gets cold. Overall really good

not big on this place due to the food is always cold, dry, old, and just no good at all .. Even their nodles (thats not even close to being it) taste so weird and off ? So yea im not a fan of this place ..... Only time ill ever really go there to eat i either if someone im with REALLYYYYYY wants to go and I like em enough to agree to it (lol) , or if they are having a really cheap sale and that guy is there to let you pick out what all you want to mix together and he cooks it fresh right there in front of you .. Other than that ; ill never be back .. Ive gave them many chances . If I was to guess , I would say that ive been there a good 7 times ; not once did I enjoy it , if the guy wasnt there to make it fresh in front of you .. Not recommended ..

The food is sometimes dry. For the cost, I love eating here. I also like that I can meet friends here and not feel pressured to leave.

Absolutely horrible. You can’t take off your jacket because it is freezing in there. The food was cold, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing ! She demonstrated to me on how to eat a craw fish without even asking , so so nice !

No matter how bad my kids tear a booth up or need drinks, the servers show no emotion. Always polite, and happy to help. The food is always fresh and stocked. The price is very fair. As always love this place for a quick lunch or a family dinner.

I love it there. The food is great and they actually have sushi there. I love sushi a lot so thats one of the reasons I go there when I can. Great customer service. I've seen other reviews on here about "the food is too cold because they turned down the steam cookers" and I believe they should stop being so damn picky. Its good quality food made by good quality people.

Food seems to be going downhill slowly. Service is good, hibachi is good. My last visit the buffet meat was chewy and hard to eat, never experienced it like that before. I’ll still go back!

This is my all time favorite restaurant. My favorite thing to get is the habachi grill. It's freshly made with a smile every time. I highly recomed it.

88 used to be amazing.. But now they seem like the don't care. The had 2 pieces of sushi left when normally it is full all the time. Plus the literally no food out. Also what was left had been there all day. It all was really old and dried up. On top of that they wasn't refilling it. So I won't be rerurning anytime soon.

Food was not the best. After I was done eating, Ping dragged me into the kitchen. He told me that I had accidentally been served an ancient cat, and they had killed the chef who accidentally killed it. One of them pulled out a cleaver and cut my stomach open as I was sedated heavily and strapped to the table. They did do a pretty good job of stitching me up, so 2 stars.

Small buffet style place. Great food and decent variety.

This restaurant is only so-so. It was very clean, the staff is attentive without being obtrusive, and the decor is nice. Some of the decor is old and needs revamped like the booth seats. I found the food to be subpar. Most of it was fried and some needed to be reheated or replaced. The hibachi was the best part and even that wasn't as great as other places I've been. The meat was low quality and the sauces were more sweet than savory even on things like chicken and broccoli. Overall I think I will try a different place next time.

I have never had very good luck with this place my grandmother my wife and myself have you eaten here 5 times together everytime we eat here we have some type of gastrointestinal issue I won't go into detail but something about this place just doesn't sit right with the stomach the food tastes very good the staff is extremely nice but there's something not quite right about the food.

The absolute worst “Chinese” food I’ve ever had. Beyond bad even for a buffet. Limited selection of even the basic foods of any Chinese buffet. Anything prepared by the hibachi “chef” is glazed in oil to the point that’s all you taste and the meat was undercooked but the chef didn’t understand I wanted it cooked longer. The food is bland and cold in general and you can tell it’s sat out since the day before. Avoid this place and try the hibachi restaurant down the road.

Wow I've been to many hibachi buffets but the food here was good. I was actually surprised. I just wanted to go to a buffet and the great wall was closed. The new go to place! Hopefully it doesn't change, as of today it was poppin.

I love everything about this place. Never had any issues with the staff. The food quality is great for the price. Plus some days they even switch up what they serve. Many vegetarian options as well.

We love it here! The food is great, service is great, & always clean when we are here!
